In this role, you will support management and employees in ensuring safety. You will proactively identify strengths and weaknesses and advise the organization on how to improve day-to-day operations. You will also be responsible for drafting policy plans and advising the organization. In this role, you will take on a significant portion of the duties of an occupational health and safety coordinator.

The person in this position is responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating the organization’s safety policy. This involves conducting regular risk assessments, monitoring compliance with safety laws and regulations, and ensuring that the necessary procedures and guidelines are in place to guarantee a safe work environment. The safety and policy manager also plays a crucial role in identifying potential risks and bottlenecks, and takes the lead in initiating preventive measures and improvement actions. This position has an advisory role and reports directly to the manager. The safety aspect is therefore not merely an add-on, but an integral part of the role, contributing to a culture of safety and promoting a responsible work environment within the organization.

The position involves preparing and updating the environmental aspects analysis and the environmental risk analysis. The employee identifies risks and opportunities in the areas of the environment and sustainability and translates these into appropriate measures. The position also contributes to improving environmental performance and embedding sustainability into business operations on a structural basis.

• Workplace inspections;
• Visits the production site(s) at least once a week
• Ensuring safety and advising or addressing colleagues when the situation calls for it;
• Provide advice (both solicited and unsolicited) on the implementation of HSE procedures;
• The driving force and leader of the dynamic RI&E, which is compiled by the employees themselves;
• Developing and organizing toolbox sessions;
• Ensures that procedures and regulations are up to date;
• Maintain the employee handbook;
• Compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, and 45001.

• Demonstrable higher vocational education (HBO) level of work and thinking;
• Preferably a background in integrated safety engineering;
• Excellent communication skills in Dutch and English;
• Committed to quality;
• Perseverance;
• Team player;
• Being proactive, tactful, and projecting authority are key qualities for this position.
